You don't have to to install a resident shield. You could just use the free versions of MalwareBytes Antimalware, SuperAntispyware, Hitman Pro, and Asquared. Asquared is also very good for removing keyloggers. If it will detect it then it will remove it! I have not used Hitman Pro, but from what i have heard it could be a good option for removal of keyloggers. MalwareBytes Anti-malware is one of the best for removal. You could also look at MalwareBytes Anti-malware, as already mentioned. Prevx 3.0 will block, and remove all types of loggers. If your looking for removal i would suggest Prevx 3.0. I've been using Online Armor for 2 years now, and it will protect you from all categories of malware. I used it in the past, and thought it was a good product. The last time i checked it does not remove them though. It also detects, and blocks a lot of other loggers like clip board loggers, and screen capturing devices. It is suppose to be one of the best at detecting, and blocking key loggers. Maybe someone else can confirm this and if it would be compatible with NIS? But it may be possible to disable the firewall and run only the HIPS potion of OA. I don't think OA would run with NIS because OA is a firewall/HIPS itself. It's probably better than most of the other free stuff already mentioned here too. One thing I would like to add is, if your NIS ever runs out and your thinking of getting something else, OnlineArmor free version now has a really good antikeylogger built into it, so something worth looking into IMO. Many of the free antirootkit scanners could prove helpful as well in finding those nasty kernel type keyloggers. Īlso there are many free AV apps that can be downloaded like DrWeb CureIT and similar for a 2nd or 3rd opinion to your AV. I suppose A2 free version would probably be a pretty good recommendation for keylogger detection. MBAM is not much better and shouldn't be recommended for keylogger detection either. Many here will probably recommend a good HIPS also. Most of these free antikeyloggers won't even run on Vista or Win 7, so are of questionable value. Most prevent the common hook type keyloggers which I don't even think many keylogger authors even bother with anymore, unless they still are living in the dark ages.
